Why do we march?
This year, we march because we refuse to be silenced. We are proud to be a part of a nationwide network of grassroots leaders, activists, and organizers who are resisting hate, rallying to stop the harm done to our most marginalized communities, and defending our human rights. In every major city, marchers will join in solidarity to advocate for the rights of women, people of color, folks with disabilities, immigrants, and LGBTQ+ people to ensure healthcare, education, a healthy environment and justice for all. As the most populous city in Santa Barbara County, it is crucial for Santa Marians to join sister marches across the country to make our voices heard.
We refuse to be silenced when we cry, “Me Too!”. We refuse to be silenced when attacks are made on our reproductive rights! We refuse to be silenced while our planet is being destroyed! And we refuse to be silenced while families are being torn apart at our borders and refugees are turned away! But we can't do this without the help of local nonprofit organizations and community members like you! Please join us as we march Santa Maria forward as a champion for progressive causes. We need all our voices to be heard loud and strong!
